La fiscalía general de la nación obtuvo elementos de prueba suficientes para imponer medidas cautelares de suspensión del poder dispositivo, embargo y secuestro sobre 12 bienes de propiedad del exmagistrado del tribunal administrativo de Cundinamarca, Carlos Alberto Vargas Bautista.
Se trata de tres inmuebles ubicados en Tibacuy (Cundinamarca), uno en Rivera (Huila), uno en Icononzo (Tolima), uno en Bogotá y un edificio en Bucaramanga (Santander); además de cuatro vehículos y una motocicleta.
Las verificaciones realizadas por la Dirección Especializada de Extinción del Derecho de Dominio dan cuenta de que las propiedades afectadas harían parte del patrimonio del exmagistrado. Al parecer, fueron adquiridas con los dineros que supuestamente recibió por direccionar sus decisiones para favorecer los intereses de algunas del las partes en los procesos.
En este propósito ilegal se habría valido de un primo suyo y una abogada que fue judicante de su despacho. En el proceso que se sigue contra el exfuncionario judicial hay evidencia de presuntas manipulaciones al sistema de reparto y otras posibles irregularidades que garantizaban que los casos específicos llegarán al despacho de Vargas Bautista.
Los bienes ocupados, avaluados en más de 9.000 millones de pesos, quedaron a disposición de la Sociedad de Activos Especiales (SAE). Esta acción fue posible gracias al trabajo articulado entre el Cuerpo Técnico de Investigación (CTI) y el ejército.
