Un trágico fin de semana en las carreteras de Cundinamarca y Boyacá dejó un saldo devastador, con la pérdida de cinco vidas en distintos accidentes viales.
En el municipio de El Peñón, Cundinamarca, se registró un grave accidente que cobró la vida de una pareja de esposos. El trágico suceso ocurrió cuando el vehículo en el que viajaban, junto con su hija y yerno, cayó en un pozo profundo de aguas represadas en una alcantarilla. A pesar de los intentos de rescate, la hija solo pudo salvar a su novio, quien actualmente se encuentra en recuperación en un centro asistencial. Las víctimas mortales fueron identificadas como Clímaco Sánchez, conductor de ambulancia en Yacopí, y su esposa Betsy Téllez, docente del mismo municipio.
Por otro lado, en el departamento de Boyacá, se reportaron tres víctimas fatales durante el puente festivo de la Ascensión. Uno de los accidentes ocurrió en la vía Circunvalar, cerca de Chiquinquirá, cuando el conductor de una motocicleta perdió el control y colisionó de manera violenta. El trágico incidente dejó dos personas fallecidas, quienes eran oriundas del municipio de Saboyá, además de una persona gravemente herida. Se confirmó que el conductor no contaba con licencia de conducción y la motocicleta no cumplía con los requisitos de revisión técnico-mecánica y el Seguro Obligatorio de Accidentes de Tránsito (SOAT).
El tercer accidente mortal tuvo lugar en la vía Soatá – Tipacoque, donde un vehículo impactó violentamente contra una alcantarilla, cobrando la vida de una mujer identificada como Olga Ávila de Torres. Otra persona resultó herida y fue trasladada a un centro de salud para recibir atención médica.
En cuanto a la aplicación del Código de Tránsito en las 10 áreas viales del departamento de Boyacá durante el puente festivo, se impusieron un total de 142 comparendos. Las principales infracciones detectadas fueron la falta de revisión técnico-mecánica (35 casos) y la ausencia del SOAT (19 casos), seguidas por la falta de licencia de conducción.
Estos lamentables sucesos refuerzan la importancia de conducir con precaución, respetar las normas de tránsito y mantener los vehículos en óptimas condiciones para evitar tragedias en las carreteras.
