En un operativo de control y seguimiento, la Corporación Autónoma Regional de Cundinamarca (CAR), a través de su Unidad Integrada de Gobernabilidad Ambiental (UIGA), impuso medida preventiva de suspensión de actividades en una planta productora de coque en el municipio de Guachetá, tras evidenciar graves afectaciones a los recursos naturales.
En el predio El Mortiño de la vereda El Santuario, la Corporación evidenció en situación de flagrancia la generación de emisiones industriales contaminantes por la destilación de carbón para la producción del combustible, actividad que no contaba con el instrumento ambiental respectivo.
“Hallamos en situación de la generación de emisiones atmosféricas industriales contaminantes por fuentes fijas en tres baterías de horno provistas de chimenea, con 80 hornillas activas, las cuales generan emisiones de material particulado con afectación a los recursos aire, flora y suelo”, dijo Clara Álvarez, directora de la UIGA de la CAR.
De acuerdo con la funcionaria, en marzo de 2022 la CAR había negado el permiso de emisiones atmosféricas para fuentes fijas solicitado en dicho predio, sin embargo este siguió operando.
La diligencia contó con el acompañamiento de la Policía Nacional, que detuvo a tres personas responsables de dicha actividad, las cuales fueron puestas a disposición de la autoridad competente.
La CAR reiteró el llamado a la denuncia de actividades ilegales que afecten los recursos naturales, e instó a solicitar los permisos correspondientes. En este caso a través del Formulario Único Nacional de solicitud de permisos de emisiones atmosféricas fuentes fijas, el cual puede ser descargado en la página web, www.car.gov.co.
