El Instituto Nacional de Medicina Legal y Ciencias Forenses señaló que las lesiones encontradas no eran compatibles con una caída de altura o por escalera, y que correspondían a un patrón de violencia de origen contundente, es decir golpes. El informe pericial detalló que esto ocasionó el fallecimiento.
El padre del menor de edad fue capturado por unidades de la Policía Nacional. Un fiscal de la Seccional Bogotá le imputó el delito homicidio agravado. El procesado no aceptó los cargos y deberá cumplir media de aseguramiento privativa de la libertad en centro carcelario.
